Why I Signed Up for My 1st Marathon?

Did you know only about 0.01% of the world’s population has ever completed a marathon? That’s fewer people than have climbed Mount Everest! (Okay, I might’ve exaggerated, but you get the point—it’s rare.) For me, signing up for a full marathon is about stepping way outside my comfort zone.Running 42.2 kilometers isn’t just a physical test; it’s about mental grit, discipline, and probably a fair amount of questioning my life choices around kilometer 30.Here’s the deal: On June 1, 2024, I ran a half marathon in Port Elizabeth’s finest weather—cold, windy, and rainy. No backing out—I’d already signed up, and the challenge was staring me in the face. I finished in 1 hour and 56 minutes—a personal best on the day. That feeling of crossing the line—relief, pride, and the urge to push myself even further—led me here. Naturally, the next logical step was to double the distance, right? But this isn’t just about me. I’m sharing this journey because I want to hold myself accountable (it’s harder to back out when the internet knows your plans) and maybe inspire someone—you—to take on your own crazy challenge.

What can you expect? I’ll be sharing:

    > Weekly training updates (the highs, the lows, and the blisters)
    > Honest reflections on how it’s going
    > My meals, tips, or gear I'm using,
    > Lessons learned
    > How I’m balancing it all with life
    > & Anything else relevant.

Whether you’re into running, lifting, chasing a dream, or thinking of starting that side hustle or simply leveling up in life, we’re all capable of more than we think. The key is to start, keep going, and see where it takes you.If you want to follow the journey—whether to get inspired, have a laugh, or just see if I survive—check it out here:
